I have read many articales on things used to control the bad smell of chicken run (esp when there is a lot of rain) if you want a SMELL FREE NO COST RUN, just collect your grass clippings and throw them in your run and rake them to be even, it will dry up your run and completely get rid of bad odor right away AND COST YOU NOTHING BUT YOU TIME.

I find that grass clippings, because they are very fine and soft, do not have much structure. Unless used carefully they tend to compress into a water and air impenetrable mat. This can change your lovely aromatic aerobic compost into a stinky, slimy, anaerobic mess, especially with a lot of rain as you suggest.
