You Don't Know what You Don't Know

My first set of chicks were spoiled because I was learning as I went but the second batch have been out since they were 2 weeks old. Granted it helped having a coop and brooder area already set up by the time the second batch came. Kinda like having my kids.

My Bantam is 3 weeks and still in the brooder. He/she is not happy with it but I am afraid to put it out because we have something that likes to steal babys and this is the only chick. This weekend we are putting it out in the coop put in a protective cage above the ground. I hope it will be safe.

It's funny you wrote this post because last night, my 8-day old chicks were running around the brooder and fussing with each other, and I started to worry that they were "bored." I was trying to figure out what I could put in their brooder that would be safe for them to play with.

Then I stopped and though, Oh my god.

It truly is a sign that one has too much time on their hands if they are concerned that their chickens are bored.

Then I had a good laugh at myself. We do like to coddle our pets, huh?
