You don't pay me enough to be your "work wife"

I don't think any amount of payment is worth being a work wife.Unless that is your job I would avoid doing anything wifey related!

I know jobs are very hard to come by,but spending your days miserable is just not worth it...unless you can save enough to buy a place in the country and quit soon!

Thanks all for your support and advice. I've read everything and I think you're all right. I do need to find a new job. As soon as the holiday season is over, I'm going to start looking for a job in a town about 30 miles from here and eventually move there.
I've tossed that idea at my Mother and she isn't buying it and will, more than likely, get me fired if I say something serious before I get the job. So for now, I'm playing the quiet, good girl and not saying anything about my plans until it's time to put in my notice. I'm going to be professional and not say a word that doesn't pertain to work.
Usually when I do that, I get yelled at (by Mom) for "being in a bad mood" even when I'm not. But it's safer for me to keep my mouth shut and work. So that's what I'm going to do.

Thank you everyone for everything. You've helped more than you realize.

Your plan sounds good. It's never a good idea to burn your bridges. If nothing else, you might need the current job as a reference in the future, or even might need to go back some day. Never say never. You don't know what the future will bring.

So be pleasant, get your job done. Smile. When you give notice tell them that you've enjoyed working there, but you are moving and they are too far to commute, so sorry that you must leave.

If the town you are moving to has a junior college, look into getting grant money and taking some night courses that will qualify you for a better paying job. My local Junior college has a nursing program. It would take a long time just going at night, but a nurse can get a job anywhere in the country and the pay is good.

The junior colleges all have computer courses and computer skills above what the normal person has can get you a decent job, too.
