You Know its cold when........

You go out and find 2 roosters with their combs s stuck together. Mind you these are the spoiled chickens that aren't out in the cold their shut up in my garage along with the brooder with heat lamps. I at first thought they were fighting but got to thinkin why would they be fighting it was dark and they was cuddled up in the corner of their pen asleep.Both of them also had their heads down and together and no marks what so ever on either one of them. The best I can guess is they've gotten a drink of water before goin to bed and cuddled up with their heads together, when I came in the garage it startled them and they freaked tryin to get apart from each other. I've seen it all now, makes me feel bad for the ones that are out in the coops and pens not shut up in the garage.

OH NO ! ! ! That is just plain scarey .... poor freezin' feathered friends! I hope the snuggle together and warm up.

...or you know it's cold outside when you try to let go of the metal watering can and notice that the top layer of your fingertips skin tore off in the process... That happened to me last night!

OH YEA, I always wear a decent pair of work gloves. That metal can be a real heart stopper.

You know it's cold when you're sitting inside a house, with the heat on, with a space heater directly on you, with a blanket on, with socks, pants & long sleeve shirt and you're still FREEZING!

You know its cold when a bird flies into the open chicken pen to get a drink, then flies up to perch on a metal post and freezes to the post. I guess thats an easy way to catch a starling!

You know it's cold when the temperature inside your freezer is warmer than the great outdoors!!

And just so you folks in the Midwest and down south aren't feeling alone,....we'll be dipping down into the uncomfortably cold range again this week. Spokane Washington forecast for Thursday night calls for lows around 14F....wotcha wanna bet those of us in the outlaying areas are going to see it even colder than that?! We usually do you know! Brrrrrrrrrrrr!! Thank heavens for an insulated coop!

LOL, That's how I feel now. Oh how I hate winter. I promise I will never complain about the heat ever again.​
