I think the reason my three girls come running when I'm ready to put them to bed is because they know they get a bedtime snack.

You realise that your Buff Orpington has gone broody and you can;'t bear to disapoint her (been there myself!) so you order hatching eggs and pace up and down the three days it takes for the post office to call you and tell you to come and get em!
And that is when you tell your husband that Buffy is soooooo happy because she is sitting on fertile eggs. And he looks puzzled, and then groans!

I felt the same when my buff orpington "Lilly" was broody a few months back. I couldn't take seeing her like that. I read all the suggestions to help her but nothing I did seemed to help get her past it so I finally went and picked up 3 one day old easter eggers and tucked them under her in the nesting box that night. It was so stinkin cute how she looked back at me after I put the 1st one under her wing and she just lifted her wing to accept the other 2. It was amazing to watch her bond to them over the next several days. That made her to be one happy hen. They are now about 4 1/2 months and I just got my 1st tiny but beautiful blue egg from Cindy Lou 2 days ago and another one today.
