When you will go out and water/feed/hangout with your flock despite any weather.

Once I went out a couple times a day to give the hens water when it was -40C!
Yes! It was -30F windchill here a few days ago and I was running back and forth to the coops giving all my birds food and water! I froze my butt off!

Poor you! :D I do like winter but with chickens it can be quite the pain. I had a Silkie die a couple days ago partly because of the cold. Even heat lamps don't work their magic all the time.

You know you're a backyard chicken owner when you move vehicles out of the garage, put down tarps, set up cages, and move all your birds into the garage, so they'll be safe during a hurricane.
Forget the garage, if there was a hurricane my chickens would be in my house since it’s 105 years old and has survived multiple hurricanes.
