Although I’ve spent most of my life down south, ALL of my family are from where I was born in Wisconsin. I remember at some younger age someone called my grandfather a Yankee. My grandfather held up his finger and very much corrected him by saying, “I sir am not a Yankee. I am from Wisconsin, therefore you may refer to me as a NorthWesterner.” I was probably about 12 and have No Idea why I always remembered it, but there it is, haha!
