Everyone should have one.

Right .. I'm just glad I'm not the only chickenless one .. **pout**

I'm chickenless too...except in my dreams and this winter.

You make me feel better about reading a chicken board 3 times a day when I've never owned a chicken in my life and am fairly certain we will not be moving to a place where chickens are allowed for at least a few years (economy has to improve so we can rescue the credit rating that crashed with said economy).

I love reading this thread. Pure bliss and brilliance. Maybe That qualifies me as a crazy chicken lady. But more than just that, when my 'crazy' dog-show friends tell me I'm crazy for wanting to show my chickens. ha ha ha.. you would think they would understand! Oh, and the walking with chickens minus shoes, yeah, that is totally me during the summer. I walk barefoot a lot.

Yours reminds me of one.......

You might be a crazy Chicken lady if you burst into your downstairs batroom where you are keeping your science fair chicks, yell,"Where's my little Pip!!!!!!!!!!!!!"And a baby rooster flies...well,tries to......to you.You pick him up and cuddle him and watch his sisters for hours, until your Mom yells at you to come eat your dinner.

4 MONTHS LATER

"C'mon, please?Just call her and see."You are begging your father to take you to the farm that took your science fair chicks. He finally gives in and callsthe woman that owns the farm. She says yes.A week later, you are at the farm."Pip?"
No answer.

"Pip?"

All of a sudden you hear a crow. It's coming from the coop. You run into the coop to see a rooster, roosting by twelve hens. These are his sisters. You stay there with the roo for 5 hours, until it's time to go.And 4 months after THAT,you get another baby roo...for keeps.

you know your a byc addict when you are on here so much you start to feel like a stalker just waiting for the next post.. and you get excited over someone else's hatching eggs ... boy do i need a life or what? lol.. oh yeah i have one... i have chickens

do i need a life or what? lol.. oh yeah i have one... i have chickens lol

Good one! YES, I have a life. NO, I never say no to chickens...YES, I frequently trade and rehome some that I take in...YES, I have a retirement plan -- I plan to retire and stay home with my CHICKENS!!! I sent home a Silver Spangled Hamburg hen with a friend...the silver sneaked into the big girls coop and got bloodied really, really bad...and the friend wants to nurture her back to health because she "would be so CUTE" with her Banty mix spangled rooster... I think SHE'S a CCL, TOO!

....if you find yourself pondering if your chickens are left-footed or right-footed. I was sitting in the coop watching the evening scramble for their hot bedlunch and noticed that one hen was scratching mostly with her right. Then I spied my BR roo scratching mostly with his left. Of course I had to sit there long enough to figure out that it just seems to depend on which direction that they are scratching in, lol! Actually, I stayed until I had to go in and put the kids (my real kids) to bed!

Well I think I just went beyond crazy...

My fiancée wants to put a couch (either salvaged or cheap ikea type) in our new dog house. So I was thinking while I'm at it running the power to the dog house, they may as well have a TV. What's one more wire right? The satellite tech gave me 1000' of wire since he didn't want to do my install, and I offered to do it myself and not say anything. I only used about 75ft.

Then I just went one step further. The chickens should get a TV also. I've got several small TVs and I have an automation system that I can turn it on and off from the house. (also make sure it's off at night via timer)

I'm sure my poor chicks are so bored. May make an interesting behavioral experiment also.
