Bee .....They did didn't they.

OP Perhaps a different hatchery next time may help. Ordering from one closest to you is always a plus.

L2C , the down visible on the heads of so many of your " over 6 week old " chicks caused me to look at picks of mine at an even younger age . I did have a " failure to thrive " chick that never did fully feather and died at around 4 weeks if I recall . Another was around 2 weeks later to fully feather and in growth compared to the others for a long time ; but eventually caught up and is the only male still living at 9 months . The chicks in this picture are all 5 weeks old and were intentionally fed to retard growth [ although probably not rationed back enough ] . Even the little White Laced Red Cornish [ notoriously slow to develope ] were feathered better and look at the difference in my CX and yours . If I had to guess the age of yours based on feather growth , I would guess between 3 and 4 weeks of age . They look healthy ; but if your dates are correct either they had serious nutritional problems or terrible genetic problems ................ regardless of breed . That chick eating out of my rain gutter feeder in the background can be compared to one of yours next to a 2x4 . The ones in the forground are roosting on 2x2s over 2x6s .

Edt , my chicks I just hatched on 1/1/11 are better feathered than those you posted

The first time we had broilers I didn't know about this site and didn't have anyone around that could/would help teach me so I was feeding just a chick starter like I did with my layers. They took longer to grow out but were fine.

Scrap how you are feeding them and put them on 21% 24/7 for a few days and see if there is any noticeable change. What do you have to lose at this point? Let them eat and see if they grow. If they are true X's they should start to take off, maybe to the extent you need to cut back rations.

well it has been all most 11 weeks and the the big day is this fri. they are over 5.4 lbs that is much as my scale will go to. looking at getting a new scale that goes to 10 or more lbs. any one know where to get one that will go to 10 lbs at. I will post the final weights of them.
