Hens can leave the nest during the day, and return to it at night, and the eggs could do okay. Especially if its warm out. Is this something your girls could do? Run out for treats and attention when they hear you, but set on a hidden egg the rest of the time?
I wouldn't take it to the rehab. You are confident its a chick, you have hens and a roo, therefor you have viable eggs. I think this was an early Mother's Day present but the cat got to it first.
