Gosh that looks bad. :(

DE is only effective under certain conditions.

I HIGHLY suggest you get some Permethrin and spray ALL your birds. A squirt under each wing, below the vent and to the nape of the neck. All with feathers parted so it hit's the skin. Mine was labeled as horse fly spray or Fly rid +, but with the correct active ingredient still labeled for chickens and ready to use.

It's safe, effective, affordable, and does require withdrawal time for eggs if used according to directions.

The rest are not fine, they are just fighting off BETTER than that one, since not all birds have equal immune systems. They just aren't displaying the symptoms AS badly. But if you know what you are looking at I bet the feather damage is there. 90% of parasites live on 10% of the birds even among the same flock according to studies on back yard flock here in California.

@casportpony @Eggcessive @KikisGirls @Folly's place Ideas here?

Good luck! :fl

It looks like there may be some feather picking or rooster damage. Have you inspected them to see any mites or lice? They can be seen moving quickly around under the vent and sometimes in other places.

The Gordon's permethrin spray concentrate is what I use, and it's labeled for poultry and many other animals. Cheap and easy to use, a total win.
Many sprays sold for horses include ingredients NOT approved for poultry, and are much more expensive to use, because of how they are packaged. Have you all noticed that if a product is sold for horses, it will be more expensive?
We are dealing with a mite infestation right now; saw two mites on two birds, out of 41. Enough to go all out and treat everyone and the coop!

I'm not sure if you noticed in the first two pictures I posted above but the Martin's permethrin I posted is labeled for both use on poultry and their housing. I just wanted to point that out.:D
