We hatched a now 16 wk old group of Barred Plymouth Rock youngsters from a well-known Exhibition Line created by Jamie Duckworth, a revered name in Plymouth Rock breeding circles leaving us with four extra cockerels from two different breeding pens. These four big males are up for discussion. For those wishing to improve their stock or have more diversity in their flocks or just start with or get back to quality Barred Rocks, might be worth a look. They have had the best food and care, very healthy, never anything contagious in of our flocks. These four must be separated into a bachelor pen soon. These beat hatchery stock with their crisp barring and size. The breeder sells his cockerels for $50-100, depending on maturity, but only asking a small feed donation. Located in Mineral Bluff, GA, Fannin County. PM if interested in knowing more about these.

These cockerels are still available, growing bigger and more beautiful by the day. They are such a stunning bunch from one of the best lines in the country. Someone save me from falling too much in love with them all because I just don't have enough pullets for them. 💖

I have added newer pics of the bachelor pen crew to the original post. The largest and most dominant cockerel is torturing the other three males in the pen and needs gone ASAP, like yesterday. He needs his own hens. He's huge and gorgeous and if you take him soon, he's at no charge so that we can have some peace in the back pen. They will be 17 weeks old in two days from today.

When I have a really beautiful rooster (typically given to me because they served for a season for fertilized eggs and then I butcher them) I have run an add to trade me for a rooster that needs to be retired.

You may not want to do it that way, but Craigslist, Facebook, etc-- it would suck to have him go for meat but I hope you have posted on those sites looking for someone who is looking for a handsome rooster for breeding.

While not ideal, could you rotate roosters and pen up your current roster? That way these sex pests can get some of their ya-yas out and hopefully get some training from older hens?

I have him listed in three different chicken groups on Facebook, yes, which is the usual way I rehome my extras. Unfortunately, right now I have no way to do any other shifting around as all my pens are full. He is gorgeous and huge and hopefully, someone will want him soon. I'd hate to have to execute a quality bird like that and someone else may take him for meat, but he just can't stay here much longer. Well, really, none of the four can, but he's just so much the dominant male that he's being a headache for the others. I had 11 and chose my 7 keepers (three roosters, four pullets) and those are in one pen with these next door to them. I'm trying to allow these four more free range time so they can expend some pent-up energy. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Yeah, it's a tough spot it be in.

I will say though that as CL has fallen out of favor it seems like there's less time wasters there than Facebook. There's still absolutely time wasters but I can barely get people to respond to my questions about their items for sale on Facebook. On CL, it feels like time wasters are only 50% of responders.

Maybe that would help?

Also you might get a response posting to:

r/Georgia

And whatever the closest metro area is, whatever the subreddit is for that.

I appreciate the suggestion, though I've joined three additional groups on FB to spread the information. It's my husband's account; I left FB years ago, not my favorite place. I've sold a lot of Brahma cockerels as well as BRs on FB groups over the past ten years or so. It may just take more time than usual. Most backyarders in this area likely won't really be familiar with the quality of breeder stock. I'll consider Reddit, never really wanted any social media other than YouTube, but I have to be careful on there because I've had serious stalkers threaten me through my channels in the past and you rarely know who you're dealing with on YT. This brutal summer is making all my birds cranky (me, too) and the younger ones hyped up to cause issues.
