I’m new to chickens but have raised some hens now since July when they were hatched and delivered. Every day I pick each one up and cuddle and give them a quick check. One has felt much warmer than the others, I’m sure she has a fever. And I have noticed too when I clean the coop there is always one poop that is runny with a spot of blood in it, so I’m now assuming it has been from this one hen with the fever. I feed them top quality starter feed, a bit of approved “treats” such as grapes or watermelon, but not much and I have been putting apple cider vinegar in their water since I got them and also have started putting pro-biotics in just one of the waterers. I can’t be sure that this hen is drinking water from the that one waterer. I can’t understand what has made one sick and I need to know how to cure her. I’m so worried. Any help out there?

Chicken have a normal temperature at 41°C which translates to 105,8 Fahrenheit.

Do you still have a heat source going for your chicks? If so, she might have just been near or under it.

How old are they?

Watermelon and grapes make for runny and red droppings, so I would stop that and wait to see if the feces get normal again. One out of every 8-10 droppings will be cecal and more liquidy, which is normal and no reason for concern.

They are almost 10 weeks old. No heat source it’s been warm here. The other hens all are “normal” temp feeling only This one has felt warm. To put it bluntly, :) the rest of the poop I scoop from all then hens is ordinary, only one per day or per night seems to look like clear or egg whites with a little blood. Will stop the “treats” as you advise and see what happens but I don’t think I give them enough to alter things... it’s like only one or two grapes per hen every few days....
Thank you for the reply. I feel a bit better that runny chicken poop sometimes is ok.
