That cleared up fast on mine, with treatment. Small amt of Corid in their water for at least a few days a month. After that resume a tsp of Apple Cider Vinegar. If you don't have Corid yet, do the ACV until you get it. Worked for my girls.
Ok, so here's what I'm going to do;
I'm going to clean their box thoroughly and chuck all the bedding out (I've been using hay)
Then I will put kitchen paper in so I can monitor the droppings.
I will put apple cider v. in their water. I am using an egg cup and refilling it frequently. Would one drip apple cider vinegar be enough/too much?
I'm using an egg cup as a waterer because they spill it a lot, and they dirty their water quickly. I change it all the time.
Actually I was wondering if them spilling the water a lot could cause cocci, I have heard that could trigger it.
Any suggestions, comments?
Really appreciate all your help.
ACV will not treat coccidiosis. I would get some Amprolium medication, there are many brands, Corid is common in the US, Amprol, Amprocox, and Coxoid are some UK brands. You may have to get them from a vet there. Toltrazuril and sulfa meds can also be used, probably vet only. Yes, wet bedding in a brooder can make an outbreak more likely, warm, wet conditions are a good environment for coccidia.
I will still give them it, as it's immune boosting. Doesn't hurt.
How much would you recommend per egg cup though?
So my local pet store isn't likely to have corid? (At least, not under the name corid?) I'm in Ireland.
My dad is working in England, might ask him to look for some.
He would get back in a week or so, would that be too late?
