I have been researching a lot about chickens. I used to have a small flock years ago and I am so excited I am moving to where I can have a few.......At first, I wanted to get some day old ones to raise, then the practical part took over so now I am wanting to know how young can I purchase hens where they are just about to start laying ? I can wait even a month or so but I want some eggs soon. May die tomorrow LOL...Really though need some advice. Thank you all

Your best bet is to look locally on CL for pullets. I'll grow out chicks to 12-16 weeks and sell them for $20. My customers are just like you and don't want to have to wait 5 months for eggs. Check out your state thread. Might get lucky and find someone close with a few extra hens. Some hatcheries and breeders will sell started pullets but shipping will exceed the cost of the chicken.
