I had 6 serama chicks under a broody hen. They had food and water. Yesterday one died. It was really thin. Starvation? I noticed two more chicks with their wings drooping. They died this morning. I haven't checked the bodies yet, but I suspect starvation. I didn't think the food was inaccessible! I took them away from their mom and put them in their own cage with food and water. Two have their wings drooping. I put one up to the food and moved it around and sprinkled it. It finally caught on and started eating wildly. The other one always has it's eyes closed and I can't get it to eat. Help!!!!!

Can you get to the store and pic up a bottle of Poly vi Sol baby Vitamins (WITHOUT IRON) ? Give them a few drops spread out per day for a few days. I had some weak babies in a shipment once and they started perking up a little while after the first dose. Can't hurt to try.

And if it works do I get a baby? LOL just kidding...

Can you try a soft treat for that one to get it started?
Just a bit of mashed up boiled egg or a tiny taste of yogurt or oatmeal?
It might stimulate it to eat and then will go to the regular food.

Lots of luck!

I was going to suggest poly-vi-sol and scrambled eggs also. The only other thing that I can think of is that we mix the crumbles with water and make a mash. That way they get more liquid when they eat....

You might try liquefying some of the food and giving it to the very weak one with an eye dropper? Or maybe some egg yolk with sugar for energy? I've done that before with very weak wild animals that I've re-habbed. You just have to be careful not to drown them.....

I just mixed up a cornmeal, hard boiled egg, raw egg yolk, chick starter, milk, oatmeal, and dead-beetle-that-fell-into-the-chick-starter mash. all are going crazy over it except the little one.
