I have a 3 1/2month old beautiful Silkie rooster by the name of Leonard. I've notice for about a week now he's been "walking" on top of my Silkie hen, Tanner. I think he's trying to mount her but he doesn't give it that much effort but yesterday... I saw him doing a very short mating dance to my Tetra Tint hen. He's not very old so this is surprising me. When will he actually do his "business" with my hens? I have 8 hens getting close to laying. Would he start then? Also have a Sebright rooster who want to mate but he doesn't give it that much effort either. By the way none of my hens are laying right now.
