Your killings me smalls

:barnie:hit Nope. In that flock, I have 6 at 21 weeks, 4 at 22 weeks, and 2 at 34 (?) weeks. And nada. I still walk the pastures and look for eggs. I still talk to them about laying eggs. *sigh* It will happen when it happens. I just need to be patient.

My senior flock is wrapping up their molt and a few are laying eggs again. In my almost daily search for potential problems, I found a hidden laying spot. It's under an outdoor furnace with barely 2-3" clearance. (I had seen a girl dart that direction, but thought nothing of it. I must have found the spot the first day they started using it. It's creepy scary to put my hand under there to get the eggs.) So my old gals are gifting me with about 7-11 eggs a day. Down from the previous, pre molt, pre snake event number of 24 - 27.

:wee:clap Congrats on your second layer!!!
Oh gives me the ibigibez thinking about reaching under to collect those eggs looks like they are making you work for there eggs little stinkers
Thanks I was doing the happy dance yesterday when I saw Barbecue settled in the nesting box, then danced all these way back to the house with the new egg

:old The whole bending down, getting on my knees, helps keep me limber.... :)

I am grateful they are back to laying eggs. Their current housing isn't perfect, but it's a lot of room for the senior citizen flock.

My coop flock has things very nice....maybe too nice? Maybe take away room service? The daily maid service? Put more aggressive roo's in there? Throw some more chickens in there? They have plenty of room too! The coop make over is planned for this weekend.

lol I love it

So this amuses me as I post before Princess Goldie would gather all the golf bolls in one spot now with Barbecue also laying who likes to use the other side of the box she gathered one ball then Princess gathered them all back up including Barbecue egg. The next day I had Barbecue egg in her side along with 1 ball, and Princess egg along with the other 3 balls.
Today after Barbecue was done she had her egg and 2 balls in her side. We collected her egg. Then after Princess was done had her egg and 2 balls on her side. Haha my husband says they have decided to share the balls and stop stilling them from one another
I think I'm becoming obsessed with the chickens that I'm keeping track of golf ball movement in the nest box, to the point I made sure I went out to see who is laying first and to check before were the balls were at. I love watching them. Maybe I need to join a chickens anonymous support group :wee

Barbecue laying us an egg :)

Went out to collect Goldie's egg, she was in the nest box when I let my girls out of the run (by the way she has not decided on a regular time to lay her egg, she keeps changing it) anyway opened to nest box and Barbecue yelled at me. Oops she apparently does not want me collecting eggs while she is laying hers.

Lol. I collected a fair amount of black walnuts. *sigh* The girls are singing through out the day. Not the egg song, just singing. Some girls are gathering the black walnuts and pulling them together and laying on them. (They aren't broody - they're nuts!)

Still no eggs.

But being positive, the walnuts are more valuable than the eggs. :)

When they hatch the walnuts let me know what they turn out as. I can just see these cute little chicken nuts running around :wee
