Ohhh Gray Dragon I'll take back what I said about ninjas and pirates if you'll share the chai ice cream recipie with me.
It's something I make by 'feel' rather than recipe, so I'll really need to have my husband observe it the next time I make my chai tea mix. Fortunately, I'm out now, so I'll post the recipe in the next day or so.
Make mine, then adjust to your taste. I've yet to find anyone who didn't want to adjust at least one ingredient a little bit. A lot of folks eliminate pepper entirely and find the recipe more enjoyable, but my husband and I like the additional 'heat' it adds. Ditto with fennel and allspice.
I may have posted the chai tea recipe on my blog already (http://withinthismind.com/gardengoblin/) but if I didn't, I will tomorrow when I'm fully sober (had a mead taste testing tonight). If I did, make the chai tea with milk then substitute it for the milk in any ice cream recipe. The substitution between chai tea/chai milk and regular milk depends a lot on your tastes.
My usual recipe contains:
Powdered milk & water / milk
black tea
vanilla
sugar/honey
cardamom
ginger
cinnamon
cloves
pepper
fennel
allspice
Best fresh ingredients you can get. The proportions go about in order, most from least. But, like I said, it varies depending on the mood I'm in. I've eliminated fennel and allspice altogether and still enjoyed the finish product. I've also eliminated both powdered milk and water and used just goat's milk instead to make an AWESOME ice cream, and I've used evaporated/condensed milk as well.
And even more specifically, Michelob Ultra! I allow myself two per night, after chores are done. Sometimes I only have one, but I never go over two.
I also am a coffee addict, and even though most times make it for myself at home, with my travel cup it's only .59 at Casey's (a little local convenience store that sprung up like a weed in every rural Midwestern town). And Casey's has *good* coffee--I tried Starbucks, once--about had kittens when the clerk wanted $3 for less than my travel mug full, and it wasn't half has good as my usual Casey's cuppa.
Hey, I don't wear make up, get most of my clothes from re-sale stores (except shoes and underwear--even I have my standards!), so I'm allowed my beer and coffee, right?
Oh, and I guess I should admit to spending a fair amount on diesel when it's trail ride season!
Definitely beef jerky...but not just any beef jerky. It HAS to be Wild Bill's. Of course its expensive as all git out, but I LOVE the darn stuff...even better than chocolate or candy!
