I don't think you can beat gamefowl when it comes to stability. I've heard of mean Silkies, mean Cochins, mean Brahmas, mean Wyandottes - although they are a sweet breed -But I've never heard of mean Gamefowl, whether they be American or Oriental types. Reason being is because they've been bred for hundreds of years to NOT be aggressive to their owners.


My Shamos have the meanest look poultry can get, but are such puppies.

They're very tolerant too, even when young. As chicks or even young pullets/stags they'll follow you everywhere, and grow to allow you to pick them up, pet them, pass them around, whatever you want, with little to no objection.

People LOVE petting the necks of my Shamos

They are so long and smooth to the touch. . .


Consider that for poor village people to raise these birds for their purpose, they need a bird that can run around streets, or live in small cages, or whatever - And not be a menace to the kids, the old folk, the strangers, the handlers, etc. And especially, if the birds are raised to fight with blades - Imagine handling a skittish or mean bird with blades on its legs.

Not gonna happen.
