I see you don't have Buttercup on your list. I had the nicest sweetest Buttercup rooster ever. He died last week defending his girls!

Are you sure that's a Leghorn? It doesn't have white earlobes.

We have three Buff Orpington/Silkie cockerels who are the sweetest little roosters!
Their dad is a Buff Orpington, and he is even better than them! He gives me pleading looks when he wants to be picked up, and they all fall asleep when I hold them!

I wish our chickens were like that. None of them really like being held all that much.

ameraucana ee roos are nice for the most part, we eat the mean ones. cubalayas are nice and friendly to people but will kill each other. barred rocks start out nice but get meaner as they get older.

Name: King Louis
Breed: Buff Orpington
Age: 4 months
Disposition: Great

Right now I only have 1 adult rooster. King Louis is a 4 month old Buff Orpington and he is a very sweet guy. He always shares his food and is ever on the lookout for danger. He has also figured out what a window is because any time I am near one he walks up, looks in and cocks his head at me. Although he isn't aggressive towards people he does keep his ladies in line...if he sees them fighting amongst themselves he is always quick to jump in and break it up. He mainly has trouble with Esme, a Barred Rock hen who is always picking on everyone, but usually after they square off he pecks her, she backs down and, well, you know...

Name: Philipe
Breed: Partridge Rock
Age: 4 months (before he was culled)
Disposition: Not so good

Philipe never attacked people, but at feeding time he would chase off the hens and not let them eat until he was finished. He wouldn't pick on Louis, though, and I noticed that the hens would run behind Louis so that they could actually get something to eat. I couldn't have my poor hens starving and since I really only needed one rooster, we had Philip for dinner a couple of weeks ago. It was my first cull but everyone seems happier with the new arrangement. (Although Philipe's favorite hen, Hilda, mourned for a couple of days).
