Your thoughts on buyers

Watch out, because some people who buy birds like this are buying them to train dogs, feed to exotic animals, etc.

I know there are people who do it, but I don't sell any of my birds that way, even "extra" drakes. I care about the birds I raise and want decent homes for all of them.

Who respond to an add, and offer to buy every bird you have, even the roosters. They always claim to be coming from a great distance, and say things like, quote me a price on everything, and make it worth my trip. The only to things I can think of is they are buying to resale, maybe at auctions, or they are buying for animal testing labs. The last thought makes me sick at my stomach.
This is what i do on those emails or Calls .

Well i am sure the people comming to look will pay Regular Price so if your wanting a discount maybe ill ask them if that want one first . I may or may not have them when you get here Happy driving

I had a bad experience with someone who I suspect used my chickens to train dogs or something. I talked to him and felt that he really took good care of his birds, but wondered more with each conversation we had. I still feel bad about letting them go with him, and wish I had just told him to forget it. I'm more picky about where my birds go now. Honestly, I'd rather butcher my extra chickens here than send them somewhere to be neglected or mistreated.

I don't think they are scammers.I think they are buying to resale, like the guy I found on FB. There are lots of animal auctions around here, thats probably where they take them.I won't drop my price low enough for them to want them anyway. It just feels wrong, somehow .

I met a guy a couple years ago who answered an ad that I had on CL. I was selling about 20 roosters and he wanted to buy them. Before he came out to buy them, I asked him what was he going to do with them. He said that he was going to process ALL of them to provide meat for his family. I usually process all of my extra roos but this was just too many to process because I didn't have the time. Well, before he came over, he gave me the, "Well, since I"m traveling so far to get them, can you cut me a deal." So, I didn't think anything of it, so I deducted $1.00 per rooster. I don't mind helping people out as long as you don't abuse the help. Well, when he got there, he asked me to go down even more on the roosters. I told him NO! I told him that I don't have to sell the roosters and even if I don't sell them to him, someone will buy them because people contact me ALL THE time to see if I have extra roosters because they know I have about the biggest roosters in town because I feed my birds VERY well. So, he went on to say that he couldn't wait to get home to start processing them and how he was going to make stews, gumbos and all kinds of other stuff. So, he buys the roosters and leaves. Before he leaves, he asks me to contact him in the future because he wants to buy any extra animals that I have to sell.

Within 2 days time, he had posted an ad on Craigslist advertising to sell ALL of the roosters that he bought from me at a higher price than what he bought from me. I was steaming mad. He flat out lied to me about his intentions. He will NEVER buy another animal from me EVER! The funny thing about it, each week he continued to drop the price of the roosters because no one was buying the roosters from him. :lau Soon enough, he had to advertise the roosters for even LOWER than what he bought them from me. :lau Sweet revenge! :D

I learned my lesson after that. I do not lower prices for anyone. And the reason is because I don't have to sell anything. I"m just too lazy to process and want them gone.

People will lie about their intentions, and in their adds. I sold a guy six week old EE chicks. He knew they were EE. He grew them out, and put them on craigslist as Americanas(sp?) . I don't have a problem with him buying them, and reselling. He paid me what I wanted, but when he sold them he knowingly misrepresented.
