Depends on where you are and the local market. If that is all there is... I'd pass till more came along, but if that is how they all are, and the price doesnt drop, well, they are worth as much as people are wiling to pay.
I sell started pullets easy at $15 each in this area. Even pet quality silkie chicks a few weeks old can be sold for 5-10 each here. However, in other areas, that would never happen. I've seen postings for $25 hens around here too. Possibly due to the fact that feed seems to be nearly 2x the cost as it is in other parts of the country, and there are people here who want organicly raised birds who buy feed for darn near $30 a bag.
That said, I would not pay that much for my own hens, since I have the freedom to raise as many as I need, deal with roosters, and so on.
When I picked up my tom turkey, the seller was interested in buying some of my Copper Black Marans in the spring. I told him $5/chick, since that's what I paid. He told me that was way too low and I should be asking $7-$10/chick. Since I'm no breeder and can't vouch for the show worthiness of my birds, I'm sticking with the $5. Oddly, $5 still sounds too high to me as a seller, but I was more than happy to pay it as a buyer and would do so again. Frankly, the more Marans obsessing I see, the less excited I am about selling the chicks. My original plan, and still a good one, was to use them for egg production and meat.
