My first reaction was to the "pet chicken" marketing. I just don't want to read about chicken abuse because some one got a chicken as a gift that didn't necessarily go looking for one...kind a like the "yo querro Taco Bell dog"

If they are rare and there's demand of them, then sure, sell them for $10 each.
We used to hatch out chicks from show quality parents and sell them for $10 a peice, and they sold like hot cakes, within a few days on craigslist they'd all be gone.
