Your thoughts on whether or not to get our lonely gander a girlfriend?

So, we got four white Chinese Geese last spring and one of them didn't make through the summer (had an issue with her leg and just couldn't handle the stress and heat).

We had no idea what gender any of them were, but it seemed that the one we lost was one out of two females. Shortly after she passed one of the ganders started becoming very cranky. I think he misses her a lot.

Do y'all think we should try to get a girlfriend for him? Does it matter what breed?

Geese usually are monogamous by nature however it is probably best not to keep him lonely. He needs company or will become very fussy.

As to the breed, it doesn't matter, just as long as she is not too large and picks on him.
