Ernie would $4it a Brick if I gave Obelisk some Olive Oil...Greeks don't readily give up their Olive Oil....
I had to tell him that I was going to bake him Hermits so that he would let me buy Molasses for Obelisk when she was constipated. LOL

My chickens thought they had died and gone to heaven when they got the bread/oil/buttermilk treat tonight! Were very submissive when I finished putting on the saddle guards for the four remaining hens.

Good morning, friends. Rosemary seems completely normal, other than no egg from her. Lorelei is weak, but she is weak every day, being so thin. She needs to gain weight and strength. Ruby was forced to defend her position today. One of the girls finally decided to pick on her, seeing her weakened condition. Ruby flared up and backed her down! I believe that is a great sign! A few days ago that would not have happened. I called out to Ruby a little while before that and she raised up her head and looked for me, rather than act like she didnt even hear me, also a good sign. She is definitely a tad better.
Zane is the same and he got some sling time before it began to rain.

Interesting thing I wanted to mention: Today, DH fed the three sickies the remaining cornbread with olive oil, softened with milk. I didn't know this when I went outside. One of my BR girls came up on the deck, looking for the scratch can like she always does. I asked DH, "What on earth is the deal with Becca's comb and wattles? They are bright, fiery red!". Then I noticed that even my Blue Ameraucana girl's were bright red and so were everyone's that had tasted that concoction after the sick girls got theirs. Is there something about olive oil that improves the circulation, like instantly? I've never seen combs and wattles are bright, intense red as these were in my life!

wow, such wonderful news!!

You know I fed that concoction to my flock last night, but I never looked at their combs this morning. I will run out and do that right now!
Ok, I am amazed! All the hens and roos who had the treat last night, by the way, I gave them Canola oil as I am hoarding the last of my olive oil till I can get to WalMart, anyway, all those who had the treat...you can tell!! look awesome! I have a couple who are brooding and didn't get any of the treat and you can see the difference!!
