Did you try the crushed red pepper thing? Glad he is doing well, maybe some of this alabama sunshine will make it your way today and get him to liven up. Hope he continues to make a full recovery.......

Woot Woot Way to go ZANE! The ladies are waiting.....

Then again so are we. Keep up the good work Cyn and no matter what the outcome...you are one awesome chicken mom! Zane could not ask for better.

DH put Zane in the hammock and he's sitting beside him in the lawn chair, watching that he doesn't get too hot. It's the ultimate sling! Maybe that way Zane can feel useful since he can see to watch over the girls and alarm, etc. Zane always liked to sit on my lap in the hammock so maybe it will make him feel more normal.

March out there and tell Zane that he needs to straighten up or I am moving in to take his place! Hammock in the sun with a male companion sitting beside me....Heck yeah I'll take Zane's place.

Go tell him Cyn....see if he budges.

Thanks for the laugh! Too late, he'd already put him back inside, the heat was too much out there already. It's been really stressful on my poor softhearted hubby. DH told me that he's not sleeping, having nightmares about them all being killed for some reason or another. He even jumped out of bed night before last because the red heatlamp in the nursery coop reflecting off CDs in the pen made him think the coop was on fire! I think it's just all these things happening at once have him on edge. My good friend Henhaven said we've been in a honeymoon period after getting chicks the first few years and we're just due for things to happen to us now. But why all in the space of one month? It's very hard to take. If Zane pulls through this, I'm one blessed chicken mom, though. I feel blessed anyway, just to have had this boy for the time he's been with us-he's amazingly intelligent and I believe, he'd be as wise as his father was.

Ya know...it always seems to be that way though doesn't it? Everything fine one moment and then all HE** breaks loose for a month or so and then all quiet again. I will say a prayer that the quiet comes soon!

Your poor sweet hubby is having a time of it. Give him a hug and tell him not everything goes wrong or is bad... it will be alright ... it is like raising teenagers...

Yes their brain cells die for a couple of years and drives us to the brink but...the kids brain cells grow back, they go to college and all is well
