Carla, I dont think it's an eggbound issue. We cannot feel any eggs "in the pipe" at all. Last summer, Lorelei would strain and strain, then lay the contents of an egg with no shell or a partial shell or just the membrane. She lost weight just like she has now, too, but then, she was dealing with extreme heat and a hard molt. Now, we have neither of those issues and she isn't even going to a nest at all. She is very weak. I did give Lorelei crushed Tums as an emergency measure suggested by Diana, so maybe that should be done with Ruby today.
Lorelei's sister Lacy recently died suddenly with no real warning and we did find loose yolk inside her abdomen where it shouldnt have been, but no other pathology. Ruby is acting just like Lorelei did last summer, but I know for sure she laid an egg two days ago, a normal one, so not really certain what's going on.
Kelly, I just don't know why our girls would be like this so soon. I know they're basically the same age, but I just didn't think that was old enough to be this way. I hope nothing happens to any of your girls!
Stacey, Angie, thanks for the sympathy. I know you both would help if you could. I just dont want to lose Zane, Lorelei and Ruby all right after Lacy and Hawkeye! That would be just too much.
