Zane Made REAL Progress (New Pics Pg 99)!RIP Lorelei...

I am so sorry this is happening. If there were something I could do to help I would.

Carla, I dont think it's an eggbound issue. We cannot feel any eggs "in the pipe" at all. Last summer, Lorelei would strain and strain, then lay the contents of an egg with no shell or a partial shell or just the membrane. She lost weight just like she has now, too, but then, she was dealing with extreme heat and a hard molt. Now, we have neither of those issues and she isn't even going to a nest at all. She is very weak. I did give Lorelei crushed Tums as an emergency measure suggested by Diana, so maybe that should be done with Ruby today.
Lorelei's sister Lacy recently died suddenly with no real warning and we did find loose yolk inside her abdomen where it shouldnt have been, but no other pathology. Ruby is acting just like Lorelei did last summer, but I know for sure she laid an egg two days ago, a normal one, so not really certain what's going on.
Kelly, I just don't know why our girls would be like this so soon. I know they're basically the same age, but I just didn't think that was old enough to be this way. I hope nothing happens to any of your girls!
Stacey, Angie, thanks for the sympathy. I know you both would help if you could. I just dont want to lose Zane, Lorelei and Ruby all right after Lacy and Hawkeye! That would be just too much.

Another thing that always perks up my birds is Kaytee Exact Hand Feeding Formula for All Baby Birds. It is especially good for crop problems, but I give it to anyone who is under the weather and not eating. It is a powder and you mix it with water to the consistency you want. If necessary you can feed it with a syringe. Lots of good nutrients in it. Also continue with the chick crumbles. Some people feed it exclusively to all their birds anyway.

I know you don't want to lose them Cyn. I don't want you to loose them either.

Carla, I'll have to see if I can find that somewhere around here. We are nowhere near a Petco or any large petstore, but I have an idea who might have it. Zane didn't even want to eat his starter crumble today, so I tried runny oatmeal with yogurt, buttermilk and salmon catfood mixed in. No go. He just refused it. The last three days, he's been eating like a horse, but today, he'd only eat a few small leaves off my wild rosebush I offered him.

I really do hope things take a change for the better soon. Somehow, someway a corner needs to be turned for you!
