Zane Made REAL Progress (New Pics Pg 99)!RIP Lorelei...

Avian Tuberculosis (in the old literature known as "going light') is another candidate...
Hoever without a (clinical) necropsy you will never know for sure.

That's interesting about the cayenne. If I could just get them to eat it. I did feed them scrambled eggs with crushed cayenne pepper the other day, dont ask me why, just had a hunch it might help. Lorelei ate them with relish. Rosemary and Ruby ate some of them, but didn't want much.
Diana, when the holiday is over, maybe I can get DH to call the poultry lab. I'll try.

Cyn, I'll call the lab for you if you want. You know I've been there... I know what questions to ask and what information you are going to need. Let me know if you want me to do that for you. I'd be more than happy. And I have free long distance, so don't use that.

Carri, let me see if he'll call them on Tuesday. If Ruby is still not doing well, if she's going downhill fast and they can be convinced to do this for little to no money, maybe just maybe, I can convince my DH we need to know, enough to spend the gas money to drive the hour away to take her to be put to sleep and necropsied. I hate that, but I cant let her just suffer like she seems to be doing. Rosie isn't as bad and Lorelei is still moving around and eating okay as of now. So, thank you so much for the offer, but there's nothing anyone can do till Tuesday anyway.

OK, just let me know.

One thing he needs to ask... Will they come out to your place and pick them up? They do that here in California, but you need to ask. They don't volunteer this information. Here I've been driving birds to the lab 40 miles away only to find out they will put them down right at the house and then take them back to the lab for you.
Another very important thing for him to mention when he calls- This is a backyard flock.

Making that decision is always hard but, if she is hurting and not eating maybe her passing could be used to help and save your others.

Omgosh, I think we're onto something. If so, we may have them all on the way to recovery by the end of the day. I hope....SUZ! Could be a crop thing. We just realized that Ruby's crop is large and also, Lorelei's is bigger than it should be with her so thin. I'm thinking all three of these girls got into something that may have impacted their crops. They roam all over this property; who knows what they happened upon? Have to go out and examine them closer. I did feel Lorelei's crop and it didn't feel hard, however, to look at it, it sure is sticking out alot for a skinny hen who isn't eating alot. I'll get back to you later. May be doing three massages after dosing with olive oil and if that doesnt work, three operations today (ugh).
