Hello,

I’m on day 22 of incubation and have already successfully hatched 4 little chicks. Currently however I have a little one that appears to be significantly into the zipping stage. The chick manages to rock inside the egg and is quite vocal but doesn’t seem to be able to zip anymore or hatch. Picture attached. He’s been like this for about 12 hours now, do I be patient and let him break free or is there an issue and will I be required to assist the hatch.

She’s probably stuck, if they quit zipping there is usually a problem. Just go in and pull the top off the egg and let her push out the rest of the way.

Thanks for the advice, she did seem ready just a little stuck. We popped her in a warm towel and slowly chipped away at the egg around her, she’s hatched now, still attached to her “umbilical cord” but we had another yesterday that was the same so hopefully it should dry up and fall off. She’s very vocal and wobbling around everywhere like the rest were at hatch so I think thinks are looking good
