I lost that calico roo this summer. Not sure why, no one was sick. I went in to the coop and he was gone. Puzzling, and sad. He was an awesome dude.

I feel for you. we HAD a black bear do the same, except he ripped out a hunk of side wall in my barn. As in, 4 feet of my 34x36 barn (not some little coop). he was after chicken.....no doubt about it. We tried electric, we tried lights, we tried noise (I think the bear liked loud rock n roll!)...

I had rats kill a brood of Serama chicks last week. To say I was mad and sad, is an understatement. I even had them in a hanging cage, 4 feet above the floor. With the momma hen. But the rat pulled their little bodies through the bottom of the cage (1/2 in by 1/2in wire). I hate rats. I have...

Did you actually go to NHNANNA and talk to her about this? Instead of taking it to a public forum? I have bought chicks from her in the past, and have never known her to be anything but reputable. If this did happen to you, then obviously it was a mistake.

I have a showgirl hen that was broody for about 6 weeks. She got off the nest daily, but was never setting on eggs. Silly girl. Anyway, she finally gave up the nest, was running around with the rest of the flock and about 10 days ago she didn't come in at night. I went out and she was laying...

I have showgirls, and I NEVER get tired of looking at these pictures. That little guy is so cute. And, it is hard to tell, I wouldn't bet on either sex for another few months.

little chipmunks are partridge. With his (well, and the hens too) coloring, expect bleeding in the colors, especially around the hackles area. So cute! :)
