I have been doing some research recently for my next lot of chickens, I think that the australorp would be hard to beat for egg laying in good conditions. I found this article and I'm very impressed with them.

They are going well. I think it being winter and her having so many eggs (16) she couldn't incubate them properly. Next time she sits on eggs I might only let her sit on 8-10
Sadly the duckling passed away, I was hopeful because it was moving around and chirping and looking strong but it must have been to much for it.

Hi long story but it's winter here in oz. I have khaki Campbell ducks, the female hatched a duckling 3 days ago. I thought I would wait for the rest to just hatch, I heard peeping from atleast one egg,

Personally I would keep just the two chicks, they will keep each other company and be fine. Then after a few months I would buy some more and once the new ones are big enough slowly introduce them to each other. They will be fine :)

Polish are very nervous/skittish chickens :barnie. Once the plume grows on top of their head it gets hard for them to see, so they can tend to freak out at movements. Maybe over the generations the nervousness has been bred into them, therefore making the chicks nervous/edgy chicks.

Hi all, I have recently Noticed that when my chickens are roosting for the night they tap/stomp their legs :yiipchick. They only do it every 30 seconds or so. My coop is about 40 feet from my verandah (AKA porch) and I hear it easily. Tap tap tap ect.
