Does anyone have a "Comet" ?

I have a golden comet who's name is...wait for it.. Haley. She's like money in the bank when it comes to egg production, and she's the most adventurous, friendly, and sweetest pullet I have. She's the queen as far as pecking order goes, but she never bullies. She's the best chook I have!

    Rooster prep and recipes?

Here's how I process mine - After the cockerel has been butchered and cleaned, I put the cut up pieces of the bird in a big ziplock bag with some buttermilk. I let the bird sit in the fridge for 2-3 days, then take it out, rinse well and either cook or freeze. Since yours went straight into...

    Rooster Gets Upset When Alone

I have to agree with the others .. my boys know I'm not a threat to the flock and have never shown any aggression towards me when I'm interacting with one of the girls. I also treat my boys indifferently for the most part. I talk to them because I like to, but I don't ever hold them, encourage...

Apple Cider Vinegar- what does it do?

The only thing I know for certain that ACV does .. is help prevent algae growth in water. There's been lots of discussion on health benefits, reducing pasty butt, etc. That being said, I put 1 tablespoon per gallon of water in all of my waterers. I've never had an issue with it - tho I change...

    Which rooster to keep?

It really depends on why you're keeping a a cockerel. If you're doing so to later breed and you wish to sell chicks - I'd go with the one that was marked/developed the best according to the Standard of Poultry. If you're keeping one just for entertainment value, and trust me, there's a lot -...

    The raccoons keep on coming...

Just a difference in how they are referred to. Groundhog, woodchuck, and whistepig are all m. monax which are found in North America. Genus Marmota.

Do racoons and oppossums get along?

For opossum I've used canned cat food and Duke DP traps.

Do racoons and oppossums get along?

Agreed - I used to have an issue with opossum, but the raccoon's moved in and now I don't see the opossum's anymore.

    The raccoons keep on coming...

They seem to LOVE sunflower seeds! The past two days, I've had baited with marshmallows and they've stopped. I think I'll do the sunflower seeds again and see if that net's a few more.
