I have 2 four week old lavender orpingtons. They were wing sexed at hatch as pullets. At four weeks, if one has a bigger comb, should I assume this is a cockerel or wait it out? I will get pics this evening. The comb is not pink, just larger than the other chicks. Thanks!
I have 2 EEs both 25 weeks old yesterday. One of them has been letting my roo top her for the last week. NO eggs from either of the EEs. Is this normal for one to be squatting/topped and not lay yet?
Thank you @junebuggena ! It was pretty funny. They all looked around like what is going on? Love these crazy birds. Hopefully I'll have some eggs from these two soon
Hi All. My EES are now 23 weeks. No eggs yet, but this time of year does not surprise me. Can ya'll just confirm that these are pullets? I'm pretty sure they are, but for some reason the black one gives me angst. It was doing the egg song (or what my other girls sound like when they are...
WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!! So glad to hear that! I really love them and would hate to part with either of them. I should have mentioned, that this one is also the more skittish of the two. I am loving my EEs. I will need more.
Okay. I have one EE that is making me wonder. I have never had EEs before. This black and white one. Can I get some opinions please. 12.5 weeks old. Does not act roo-ish, the feathers are rounded around the neck and tail, but they hang differently than my other EE.
Oh thank you mymilliefleur! I am just amazed at how much easter eggers change in their looks from day to day. I didn't see any other rooish signs so was hoping it was just a kid thing Thanks for you reply! I see you are in TN. What a lovely place!
Is it possible for an easter egger pullet to have one tail feather that kind of curls like a roosters? I have an 8 week old with what I believe is the wild duck wing pattern. Comb not red, no three rows, but this one feather has me wondering. See photos in post below. Thank you in advance.
Oh my it is to easy to do! Talked the hubby into 2. Have 6 adults, 2 chicks, and a broody on 2 eggs that are due to hatch Sunday/Monday. Have not even been into chickens for a year yet. YIKES!. Already planning building a bigger coop. HE HE!
