I'm in southeastern mass. Currently I have chicken & ducks that house together @ night. During the day they all free range & are provided with pellets, crumble, scratch grains, & cracked corn. Would love to see some barred boys strutting around again.
Hello there,
I can take them in, all together, would you be opposed to meeting 1/2 way? There is a Walmart in Raynham that is just about in the middle of us.

If so what days & times are good for you?

Hello everyone, I am looking for some bantam ladies.
Japanese Bantam (any color) & Cochin Bantam (any color) even some older silkie ladies & 1 silkie roo
I am not looking to spend a lot (Unexpectedly lost almost all my laying ladies a couple weeks ago, now just have lots of chicks)
As long...
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO The first clutch has pretty much all hatched under momma! Now just waiting on the second hen's clutch which is in the final days, then at least another week before my 3rd JB hen should start having chickies under her.
Here's 2 shots I got of some curious lil fluff nuggets - Can't...
Aww yay! You may get some early arrivals - or does your doe usually pull fur a few days before?
I have 2 that are a week old & 6 that are 4 days old & a potential litter due Fri - can't palp the doe as she is so huge in the belly that there is no real wiggle room to feel :/ & another due soon...
Now I don' have any bantam cochins, I do have Japanese bantams, adults & a juvenile & 1 chick -eggs under 2 hens & incubator. So I will have staggered ages. They are more than welcome here. If you could hold on to them till they are ready for outdoors, that would be great. I just love the bantam...
Finally! we have new ones @ In The Sticks
Dalyila, one of my 1/2 Lionhead 1/2 Netherland Dwarf ladies had 2 lovely little kits yesterday afternoon! These lil ones are 75% ND & 25% LH
I find when you have a lone chick/chicken they tend to be friendly w/ people as they enjoy companionship. As soon as there is more than one they tend to look towards their feathered friends for company most of the time anyways
My adult JBs are still standoffish & will run away, but when I do...
LOL that lasted for all of 1/2 a day!! I put them there because I was scared that they might abandon the eggs :/ (first time broody around here) They go out into the pen area & eat n drink then back into the coop. I was worrying because I have 4 hens & 3 roos for my JBs & with 2 of the ladies...
Some of my young JBs have a similar look, in regards to the coloring - That would be very nice to get some molted ones from my bunch!
It still looks young enough to not have any curled tail feathers come in yet. Does have a large red comb -- I am leaning more toward a cockerel
four H lover -...
Thanks! Now I have 2!! the first one started the 9th & the 2nd one started the 13th! My 2nd lady decided to sit on 2 & begin, so I gathered up a few more of the JB eggs I had inside & gave them to her. My 1st lady was trying to sit on 16eggs!!! I was able to get 2 from her & put in my...
AWWWWW!!!!! I love this photo! I have had free roamers as well. Have lost some along the way to predators, however due to the rabbit becoming overly confident in it's night time activities :/
I have an area they can go to (the fowl yard) to spend the night. Currently I only have 1 free roamer &...
First broody over here! & from one of my 4 JB ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She has been sitting since Tues morning....I know I know she could quit. I got a feeling about her though, they are very stand offish & will run when anything bigger than them go towards them -she just sits there & doesn't move...
I have a few extra males from this past hatch & may have a few more from my incubator eggos that are due the 22nd. I plan on raising them & keeping the most well behaved of the drakes & processing the rest. As others have said- I have read about a nice savory beefy flavor & the plucking issue...
I love getting the feeder fish & putting them in their pool!! Now that they have discovered our pond (we made it years ago when some neighbors decided they didn't want a pond & just filled it with gravel & dirt till it flooded our back 1/4 of our property) It has frogs & bugs n all but no fish -...
...may just be stubborn! I feel the same way sometimes, as I have chilled out chicks, no one wants to rumble the egg & all but one took their sweeet ***** time pipping & zipping!!
69 being to high will depend on who you ask. Many people have their own temps & humidity levels they stick too...
Sorry to hear that Dutchgirl with keeping her inside still, maybe set up a radio near her & play classical music??? That may help drown out background noises that could cause her a scare. You could attache you current nest box potentially. If it's wood or plastic you can drill holes in the sides...
RIGHHHTTT!!?!?!?!?! Very Stressful, I have been able to keep myself pretty occupied this go around though, & also having staggered hatch days is making me so exhausted that it's almost more mellow.
Glad you were able to bump up that humidity.
Lovebirds!!! you will for sure have to post photos...
Update- The little one on the right of the 1st 2 photos are my first JB ever to hatch here a few weeks ago - & Had no clue what I would get with feathers....
This is that JB this evening (flash kind of drown out the coloring) will take a much better photo tomorrow w/ my actual camera.
&...
Alright....Finally some photos - Sorry they are w/ my cell, as I kept forgetting to put my camera battery on charge(it is now though)
So far 8 quail have hatched. I had to help the most recent one out as it had severely curled under feet. I have taped them flat & wrapped a bit around the ankle...
