after the tea was put into the boiling water and turned off to cool I added the sugar so it would dissolve real good. If I add sugar after my tea has cooled it doesn't dissolve very good.
Just had to stop by and say my keifer is doing great! thanks again Ernie... and yesterday met HenCackle {very nice lady I may say}, and she shared some scoby to get me started on Kombucha, it's all put together and sitting on my counter as I type, can't wait to try it.. also got Butter beans to...
Right now it looks like Valbazen is the best wormer, but if your wanting to treat for internal and external papasites then get the Epernix it's very safe.. heres a chart about worms and wormers.. http://healthybirds.umd.edu/Disease/Deworming%20Birds.pdf
Hey Andrea, just saw your post about Bernie, that is great news.. so happy for you..yep I learned the hard way too, I now have mine on twice a year inside/ outside pest control.. Also if you want to use something where you won't have egg withdraw try Epernix..
AndreaS, so happy to here Miss Bernie is feeling better. Those worms can really bring them down fast... and with all the TLC hopefully she'll be feeling good as new very soon.
as soon as you get her to eat for you, you need to go ahead and worm here. Theres another lady on the Emergency thread thats is losing one of her hens because of worm over load. This is very serious. Sorry I don't mean to be so blunt but it's true. Andrea, just thought of this, PM dawg 53 he...
do you have any salmon? the reason I ask is I bought some wild caught salmon in a can and mixed kefir, in with it and gave it to my hen when she was going through molt, she didn't want to eat either, but she ate this salmon & kefir.
I gave my chickens my home made kefir today for the first time, me and the dogs been being piggie about it, any way they just about jumped into the bowl for it and scarfed it up so fast. I think they like it.
hopefully you'll have help if you decide to do that. It probably wouldn't bee to bad if you know exactly which hole to go into. That would be the scariest part... sorry your having to go through this.. you can't get her to eat at all?
Hey, I sure couldn't imagine how it could hurt.. I don't know as much as some on here about the kefir but I use it and think it's very healthful for our birds and us.. so I'd say go for it, you need to give her a few days before worming but I wouldn't wait too long or it might be too late...
I made a smoothie today used canned pineapple in the juice and boy was it good... hope the cramps go away rustyswoman..
Batten down the hatches Ernie... It's going to miss us thank the good Lord!
I have grown stevia in a pot right outside my back door. It's great to just pinch a leaf off and chew.. It's not a hardy perennial so it won't come back the next year unless you have a green house or maybe a nice sunny window, but in zone 51/2 it won't make it.
