I really believe it depends on what the duck bonds with. I have 3 runners who are a flock and 1 that thinks it's a chicken. It was hatched and raised by a polish hen. Poor thing is afraid of the ducks
You may not have seen a reason but he did. There are many ways to train that behavior out of him if your willing to try. Me EE roo was getting pretty bad and after 2 weeks of bootcamp he minds his manners.
Hi
I am relocating to coastal Oregon this winter and am wondering if you could give me some info. Are there any towns known for unfriendly chicken laws I should avoid? Tia
Most are friendly but I did have 2 that were flighty. They tamed down after a few weeks of working with them. I was careful to choose a friendly leghorn for the mother. The combs aren't to high but taller than a standard peacomb.

I did an lavender am roo to a white leghorn hen. The offspring recently started laying lg blue eggs. Here is a pic of one. They all came outlooking the same.
I don't know about birds but when showing rabbits and dogs it called "stripping". The plucking of unwanted white hair. It is commonly done but publicly frowned on. Most breeders won't admit to it but many do it.
I have 1 buff chantecler. She is about 3 yrs old and still lays ok (3-4 a week) when she isn't broody. Unfortunately she has been broody most of the summer, she can't seem to get eggs to hatch and won't adopt either. Any ideas how to stop her or will she give it up eventually? I've tried broody...
I'll post some more picks when they mature. I did find 2 blue feathers on her left side so I guess she isn't solid white. If they aren't dutch though they probably should go. I have enough mutts. To bad ...I paid a pretty penny for them. Thanks for the info.
I have a pair of buff runners and an odd black call drake. I hatched out this duckling and it appears to be a dark brown or chocolate with lacing. Could 2 buffs produce this color or do you guys think he's a crossbreed? It carries itself very upright.
The Marecks vaccinations would have been as chicks so it couldn't be that.
Chickencanoe, it was after the deworming that it started. I use pumpkins every 3 weeks as a natural treatment (it seems to work) my friends uses commercial treatments in the spring and fall.
We have started a Tylan 50...
