Hello and welcome to my chat thread 🐔👋
I’m making another one of these because the last one Went a bit silent and I was starting to talk to myself... Am I really that boring?? 😬 😂
Allow me to introduce myself.
I live in Ireland.
I have 30 chickens, 27 Brahmas, blue buff columbian, golden...
Wondering if I can vaccinate my adult flock (4 months - 2 years) for fowl pox, Mareks and coccidiosis ?
Are they too old to vaccinate? Is there any risks?
I’d like to move my thread to the ‘pictures & stories of my chickens forum’
https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/chickens-ducks-chat-thread.1340200/
Hello fellow chicken and duck keepers. :frow
I thought I’d make this chat thread for a bit of fun
This thread is for everyone to share their photos, stories and updates of their chickens and ducks And other animals if they wish.
I’ve overdone it this year and now have 11 Brahma roosters and 20 ducks to get rid of.
I’ve had an add up for some time now and they’re not going fast enough. Any ideas on what I can do ?
It’s such a pity about the Brahma roosters, they’re such beautiful birds and no one wants them :barnie
I found one of our chicks all beaten up beside the mother hen.
We put blu kote on all of its peck wounds but it has no control over one of its legs and the poor thing drags its leg behind it...
Is there anything I can do to fix it ?
Luna has had Bumblefoot for nearly two months now, we removed the Bumblefoot when we first noticed it and we gave her 1 ml of baytril morning and evening for a week.
The swelling went down but two weeks ago it swelled up again even worse than before.
We tried to do surgery again but we...
The parent birds are all golden partridge Brahmas but this cockerel from one of this years batches is looking a little blue
I did buy one of the parent hens from another breeder so I don’t know if she would of had a little bit of blue partridge in her...
any ideas ?
I treated one of my hens with baytril for bumble foot last week and One of her eggs that she laid on the second day of treatment may have been put under a broody hen. will this affect the chick if it hatches?
Bit of a weird scenario here.
Our buff Orpington hen went broody 2 days ago and when she’s out in the morning she eats, poops and hops back into the nest avoiding the water dish. I’m starting to worry as she has not drank anything for two days now.
can I achieve blue partridge by crossing a blue buff Columbian Brahma rooster with a Golden partridge Brahma hen and then breed the offspring (hen) back to a Golden partridge Brahma rooster ?
Here’s the chick (blue buff Columbian rooster over Golden partridge hen)
She was acting normal when I let her out this morning. eating, drinking and running around.
She won’t eat or drink now and she’s standing still slowly blinking.
She’s been like this for 3 hours.
I’ve checked her vent to see if she’s eggbound, couldn’t feel anything. her crop is small and hard...
So this is Luna.
She’s a 10 month old golden partridge Brahma and she has yet to lay an egg.
All the other brahmas that were hatched with her have been laying for over 2 months.
They’re all fed layers mash with a side dish of oyster shells.
They were being fed growers mash up to 2 weeks...
