I just thought I'd share this with you guys. I was taking Easter pics of my DDs with our two newest ducklings (Ming Ming and Ducklie) and a few 3-4 week old chicks we have. While e-mailing one of the pic to family I noticed something in the background. Ducklie (my autistic daughter's duckling)...
Well I am officially done with the Easter hatch. My last chick hatched about an hour ago.
I started with 153 eggs and this is what I got now:
These were 9 games, 1 Amer, 7 frizzle polish & 1 blue polish (that turned out to be a cochin)
1 EE, 1 yard art, 2 D'anver, 4 white d'uccle, 1...
Day 3 is easiest. Look at the pin feathers on the end of the wing. One row is a roo and two rows is a pullet.
This was the best pic I could find to show to you.
I will try adding that one in for next batch just for kicks.
I usually compare them within their own groups (different breeds, etc) and look for small differences
Again, this is not the only form of sexing I use. I do this to compare to traditional sexing answers to try to figure out if...
It's an old farmer's tale that has proved mostly true for me. (better accuracy comes with practice)
Hold the egg in front of you with the "pointy" end down
Does the bottom (pointy end) of the egg come to a point? (kinda like a V shape bottom)
Does the bottom or the egg look rounded...
For anyone who missed my earlier post or is unsure about my (attempted) explanation.

I am in complete shock. I always sex all of my chicks and I usually have about an 85-90% rate. I egg sex them before hatch (this requires lots of notes to keep up with), then I wing sex on day 1 & 3 and then vent sex at about a week old. (I compare answers and majority rules)
That being said...
I am still hatching. 5 Fully hatched and 15 halfway hatched. (some of these are taking their dear sweet time) They are so cute... 1 bantam polish and 4 frizzle polish. Charging my camera's battery still... Can't wait to upload pics in the morning.
Well, I have known that I hatch early but this is the earliest. Some my early set eggs went into lockdown yesterday at midnight, so day 19 1/2 is pretty early but no one has unabsorbed yolks so far. I have ten half way hatched (still connected to the bottom of the shell) and 6 pipping. I will...
I hope so too. Bubbles was a "special" gosling, all of her hatch mates seizured and died within the first week, she had seizures too but survived. The seizures, however, left her a bit on the retarded side and unable to vocalize, but I did not have the heart to cull her. She was super friendly...
