Hi Everyone! So finally got to bring my two girls out to the big coop (3 months old, fully feathered) kept them in a kennel for about a week and everyone seemed okay. Let them out into the big coop and these little ladies are TERRIFIED. Of the other chickens, of me now too, of everything! They...
Amanda- in Western Ma (Peru). Happy to trade eggs or even give aways if we get photos of hatchlings and egg color when they are all grownup!
And we will definitely post some pics! I think they are going to be pretty cool looking. I'm hoping they tend to be more broody and a bit nicer, my...
I adore our Giants- we have three black hens and they lay medium brown eggs. Pretty good layers, just started about a month ago and I got them as day olds in August. We are thinking of hatching a couple out with a silkie roo.
Would you be so kind as to post a pic of your hen? I've got two BCM americauna crosses in our grow out and are wondering what they will look like when grown! Thank you!!!!
We found a woman in Middleton - so we ran down last weekend early Saturday morning. As soon as we turned around- got caught up in that snow storm that came through! 5 hours ended up as 9 with a quick stop at the Longhorn in Springfield! But... we got two little cuties in the brooder box!
I'm cross posting here for some quick help (on my intro page and here) I've got four left from seven in the incubator and I think only ones going to hatch. They go into lock down today. Does anyone know of anyone within two hours or less of Western Ma that has a couple of day olds? I'm trying to...
Tony,
Thank you again for the note about the fair- it might be a huge help. Do they often sell day olds there? I've got four in the incubator down from seven (PO scrambled them during transit and it's going to be a bad hatch out I think). I'm worried only one is going to hatch- and I know they...
Hi everyone- we are just over the line in Western Ma and I don't mean to jump in on this post, but I'm wondering if anyone out this was has one or two or three day olds- I've got four eggs (down from seven, horrible post office) that are going into lock down tonight and I'm worried only one is...
I will- not looking any better since I got home. I went up to stand them upright with some egg cartons- all are either detached or saddle sacs. When I went to stick them on the carton the sac went to the bottom? Doesn't seem like that's what should happen, and so I'm nervous to stand then...
Thank you! Really enjoying my girls so so much. They are pretty chilly tonight, only about 4* outside tonight. Their coop is much warmer but they are still ****** about winter! I heated them up some oatmeal to warm them up before roosting.
Thank you! I'm keeping my expectations fairly low as these eggs were shipped and it's my first time. I must have missed a hairline fracture in one egg- today my bator wasn't turning the eggs properly so I popped off the lid to see what was going on, when I manually tried to turn the disk it...
That's what I'm figuring out - I'm going to do the salt water hydrometer calibration today and if it's way high come up with a solution.
I'm going to try to check out the air sacs on day 7 a bit more thoroughly and adjust again then if necessary.
