I had the same issue with my hatch this time around.. 18/23 hatched but was staggered over nearly three days! It seemed like it took forever for the little ones to pip and zip but the ones that hatched were very active and healthy. The very last one piped and zipped then got stuck but it is...

Grrrr.... Just did a test candle.. Day 5 and some of the eggs I have in there are light blue and white so very easy to see into and usually by day 3 I can see what if anything is going on.. Like I said, day 5 and the front row shows signs of veining very faint, like day 2-3.. Moved the temp...

Although to date I haven't tracked my humidity within the bator I agree, 60-65 is a good target and once they start hatching the humidity will go up. I bought a new bator that is digital for hatching turkeys, it shows me the humidity within the bator, it has been ranging between 39-47 and I...

I have a pretty strict regiment.. ( I have never had Cocci either) The disease lives in your soil and can live there for up to I was told 7 years. Medicated feed is not a cure and once taken away if there is a problem the disease can infect your flock. I talked to a herbalist because I had a...

No chick starter at all.. I use All Purpose or All Flock... 20% protein and I am not buying different feeds for different ages or type of birds. I start them on the crumbles or I will put the pellets in my blender to break them down.. Never have had an issue :)

want to hear something funny.... Saw an ad on CL for green and blue eating eggs, ad said free range so I thought what the heck, emailed her and ask if they were fertile, she emailed back and said she didn't know, she refrigerated right away so I had nothing to worry about. Got back to her and...

I had a similar situation with my eggs 16/41 were clear.. Shocked me as I have two roosters servicing 30+ hens and have had excellent feedback from my buyers as to fertility... Finally figured out the problem, Although my flock free ranges 1/3 acre it wasn't enough room, the dominant roo spent...
