I'm sorry :( I lost a chick last night as well

47 is way too low. I've heard of them surviving low 90s or even 80s for a short period but I'm worried about whether they could make it through a dip that significant. Hopefully someone with more experience can weigh in today for you to give you a better idea.

She died last night :(

With the dark ones I think most people go by the shadow, and monitor the air cell and the smell. Sounds like your eggs are doing good.

It's been about six hours, and all the veins have receded but one. Most of the yolk is absorbed but we are letting it rest while it finishes up. Fingers crossed.

It's solid by its belly, and yes it's peeping and wriggling, it's head is turned upside down under a wing. Here's a better pic And the yolk

Update on saddle cell #2: It's been 9 hours since DH was able to locate the beak and assist this chick. I can tell that many of the veins have receded, and it is breathing normally. it's positioning is concerning me though. It was upside down and the yolk hasn't yet fully absorbed though...

I'm so sorry that this happened. Maybe the 13 remaining will do better from here out. Update on my hatch: My other saddle shaped air cell pipped the wrong end. Somehow it turned it's head back inside the egg and couldn't turn back. It was frantic and erratic, and the membrane had already begun...

It's day 22 and 2/5 have hatched, including one of the ones with a saddle shaped air cell which hatched upside down. I'm hoping the others hatch soon.

Hello all! Its been years since I had chickens, but now that we've bought a house and settled back down it felt like time to start over again. We have an acre in a residential area, so I guess it's more like urban chicken keeping than what I did before when we lived out in the country...
