whenever I'm around during the day any time I have to go #1 I pick a spot on the property to go lol. I could just not free range my guineas but they are great for tick control and they are so mean to the chickens lol. I'm hoping it was a male that was taken out and not one of the hens. That...

this is the first predator kill on the farm. I have been very diligent with predator control during the hunting seasons. I hate killing predators out of season as there needs to be a balance and I hate having to call the DEC every time I have to do so lol. Thankfully NY state miraculously has...

well last night right before dark and right before I was putting my guineas back in the coop a fox picked off one of my guineas. I went down to let them in and only 3 were there. I quickly grabbed my rifle and went for a walk behind the coop and quickly saw the fox I was able to get 2 good...

it's ok, it's a long shot trying to get them to be 100% free range, I realize people probably have the opposite problem and that I'm probably lucky they go in my coop lol. Last year we had a lot of raccoons on our property but I thinned them out pretty well during small game season.

So I noticed today that my guinea hen has split her horn on her head down the middle. Have any of you experienced this? Should I do something to fix it or just let it bed. It isn't bleeding at all but looks like it did at some point

In my experience no, I just recently dealt with a mouse problem around the coop and as far as coons I still have raccoons come around from time to time that I have to trap. As for rats unsure but I'm sure that doesn't matter either. Guineas are great for ticks though

from the texture (feel) of the egg and the brown specks and that it was laid in the straw I really feel it is a guinea egg, I hope it is, I will be looking for more from my girls maybe I'm wrong but I honestly don't think I am... I know my chicken eggs

I know what my chicken eggs feel like and look like, I have bantam cochins with them. This was in the straw not the nest box it is smooth and has little brown dots lightly throughout. When clanking chicken eggs together it well clanks when I did the same with the guinea egg it sounded like...

yeah I have heard about the 2 syllable thing but my guineas can be pretty quiet unless the wild turkeys or deer or predators come near the coop. I love my guineas especially since they tip me off on what may be prowling about they've helped with predator control twice now.
