I didn't eat them, but after threatening them with calling the police they did. Or the turkeys, at least. The pig I think is finally penned up. They apparently bought him as a pet for their daughter without actually building a pen for him first. When I complained about the feed it was always...
Nope, been down that road before when they had a dog that kept killing my birds and never got anything from them then either. This time around they promised "a couple bags of feed" to replace what their pig and birds had eaten and, of course, never delivered on that either.
Thanks :hugs
It wasn't a pleasant thing to find :( I've decided to wait a couple years before I try peafowl again and see if I can get a better setup for them built, etc.
Dead :hit I don't think I posted it here, but they were killed by a neighbor's turkeys. The neighbors have a habit of not taking good care of their animals, so they had two giant toms that kept coming over and eating all of my feed. I got sick of it so I took it up after feeding my birds in the...
Yep! Here are the last pictures I posted of her. In the first picture, she is in the corner (I swear I wasn't keeping them in a laundry basket, lol, they were only in there while I changed their brooder):
And when she was four weeks old:
Good news on my search for peachicks! The breeder in NY has said they can overnight me some chicks when they're old enough, and they have both Blackshoulder and Silver Pied, so I think I might go that route.
I had checked the classifieds and hadn't seen anything in my area - I just noticed the breeders section after you posted this! But someone in NY also looks to have just posted a classified for chicks, so I may email them and see if they have eggs. They're too far for me to go get chicks from...
Well I'm just having a rotten time finding what I want this year - I can't for the life of me find eggs from the colors I want. I think maybe it's too late in the season. So I'm gonna throw in the towel until next year, and just see what I get from the two eggs in my incubator now.
I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow. They are six weeks old on Friday. They just got kicked out of the house today - still not touching the ground, but they're out in a brooder in the coop. They outgrew the indoor brooder.
I've gotta get some new pictures of mine. The barring has faded away a lot on one of them and it's smaller than the other so I'm wondering if that one is actually female. Well, time will tell! I've also got three more eggs incubating and at least two were developing on my last candling. I'm...
Out of curiosity, does anyone have any recommendations on where I could get some eggs from BS pied peafowl? I think I'm ready to go all in on this and if my two are really both boys, I want to hatch some more and get some girls. Might even sell one of the IB boys in favor of a pied one if I can...
