Hi all!
I had a sort of hard time finding this thread on the new set up...but I did!
Haven't left yet for Florida (Wynette you can come visit...we will be in Hudson)...but think all will be fine with my flock and flock sitter!
I look forward to the winter break although here in N. Michigan...

Wynette!! I didn't know you had a pole barn built!! Wow...that set up will be fantastic! Lucky you! I wanted to say that your one splash is laying....very nice sized eggs!! My flock is doing well and I will leave in 3 1/2 weeks for Florida. I have my RV coop all ready to go to a...
My Jerseys are a little over 5 months and haven't started laying yet...but then my Orpingtons are a little over 6 months and haven't started laying either.....sigh.....

Mine hasn't crowed yet either! He is younger than yours...I think he is almost 5 months now...would have to check records. I thought maybe the Orpington rooster (older by 3 weeks) intimidated him. I wonder if our girls will be later laying eggs also? I thought I asked Wynette that...

It IS helpful. Wish you had a picture but I will examine my flock closely to look....it sounds like you have to actually handle it to find if a point or a sprig. Thanks for sharing and I'm sorry you had to get rid of your splash.

Too bad about the rain cancellation Soaring! If I read right...you got to talk to a judge and the judge said your splash had an extra comb point and that it should be culled if you want to be a breeder??
Hi Maria!
I have noticed the yellow/willow color going up the legs of my splashes so that is good to know!
The one picture posted earlier almost looked like there was a hole in the wattle?? I can't imagine it being born that way...it would seem more likely it got wounded/damaged somehow to me.

He is very pretty Chic!! Love the color and feather edging. I THINK roo....so that is my vote. Where did you get him from?? Indigoegg? Pride and Joy? Wynette?
This is the best I could do as far as pictures. I have narrowed down my choices to these two roo's. One has better defined edging on feathers...a longer straighter back...the other has darker color blue with a broader chest and tail flipped up more. I have to study their legs better but I...
Hope your hubby does great on his should surgery ChickwannaB. I'll say a prayer for him. My brother in law just had surgery on his shoulder yesterday in Colorado. (torn rotator cuff). He did great...so did the surgeon.

ChickwannaB....we are spoiled by the "Michigan thread". Not all threads are that active! I just am too inexperienced to be able to help you out ....I think they look fine but really haven't studied the type enough to know much. I think this thread counts of Wynette to help us out and...

Too bad about your hen dying....maybe the heat?? I have Wynette's also and they are beautiful aren't they? Did you get any from Maria Hall?? I got some from her also and hers have yellow feet (not legs just bottom of feet).

That gives me hope, theoldchick!! I had just decided mine is a pullet, but Wynette and Fifelakelooper burst my bubble. That manly JG Hen is just AWESOME!
Just "guesses" Chic...and who would have picked the old chick's pullet as a pullet?? That is why I'm trying to wait at least...
