I am looking for a trio of buff chantclers. I am basically starting over. I sold a few of my flock, and then of course, then I had a predator issue. I am down to one buff. So I am starting over with a trio or quad and I am looking to buy some at the heartland poultry show on March 17, 2012...
I keep thinking that I would like to get white chanteclers but my white sussex are always dirty looking. I don't like aspect of a white chicken. Anyone else feel that way?????

I think this guy was taken by a predator today...I found a pile of feathers that look like his and see no sign of him (nor do I hear him). Strange in that there were nearly a dozen bigger, slower, Freedom Rangers in the yard with him at the time.
This leaves me with just a single...
I was just wondering when your roos started crowing. I hear my blue marans roo crow but I am not hearing a second roo in my pen (and he is 7 months old).

Do you know anyone who would be selling white chanties this fall. I would really like to get some.

I'll blushingly answer that for Stacykins...she hatched her buff chicks from my Chanty eggs.
And Stacykins...I'm going to bet that the chick in the second pic is a roo.
Whew. That's what I was thinking. They have such a different comb from the other birds I have, that I thought...
I am trying to decide on which color to concentrate on. For those of you who have any of them, which eggs are larger, and if you have eaten any of them, any preference on the taste of one color or the other.
I think all of the colors are beautiful, I really like the white and buff.
This may be a little off topic, but we are looking for a true dual purpose bird for our midwestern farm. For those of you that have dressed the chanties out and partook of their goodness, how do you feel they tasted compared to other home raised birds.
I am also looking at sites to order from...
