Well it went good last night. Betty was awake from the peeping but as soon as i put those chicks in she started tucking them in! One pecked her straight in the eye and she didn't even care lol. They are all running around jumping on mom and eating and drinking this morning. :)

Nice! My husband threw the snake in a trash can with the bedding. We don't have enough yard to compost all that unfortunately. Anyway, he threw the snake in there for days too.. so we had little maggots on the lid and he turned it over for them to feast on last night. My chicks shipped...

That's a lot of snakes! I closed off the whole coop knowing it was still in there but I couldn't find what it had slithered in to. DH has some tools and crap in the front but when everything got quiet it went back into the same nest box it was in to begin with.

We took care of the snake so now I don't have to worry about that one showing up and eating my chicks at least!

Thanks I think that is it. My girls were not afraid and kept coming in the coop Now I have to find the booger again to get rid of him.

I just found this in my nest boxes and no eggs left in the boxes, it has been hours there should have been some. It slipped away right after I took this while my back was turned to get my kids to go inside. Does anyone know what kind this is? I closed all doors and my chickens are in the yard...

No pink in them that I could tell and in person one comb is a little bigger than the other but not too bad. IDK if feather texture can tell you anything or if it's merely just different with each breed but the darker more solid one has glossier and more coarse feathers than the one with spots it...
