This doesn't look anything like a silkie or even silkie mix to me. We just keep silkies and buff orpingtons. Of silkie it would have more feathering on the feet or crest. Even a mix would. I think it looks more like a buff orpington mix or even just a hatchery stock bo.
Unfortunately unless you are selling him to eat little roosters can be hard to rehome. The way I do it is to sell them in trios only if I need to move roosters. Many people will rconsider keeping a rooster to get a good deal on hens.
Our hen wasn't fat but was older. Sweetest girl ever. No reason for her to be stressed. Her eggs always looked funny. We got her as an older hen. She always had bumpy eggs..
I agree with this if you keep a mixed flock. We feed flick raiser with dree feed oyster shell to the side however if you only have laying hens I recommend the laying feed. We recently had a chicken start laying soft shelled eggs then she started laying internally. She just wouldn't eat the...
Good luck. I know about the top girl thing for sure. Our leghorn is having some laying issues. Had to bring her in and crate her but she is having an all time fit.
We brought her in the house last night and gave her some scrambled eggs lol. This morning she is right as rain and already back out with the other chickens. :)
Hey guys I have a question about my lemon cuckoo orpington chick. I asked on the general orpington thread but no response. I hatched a lemon cuckoo but it has black spots on its head. Is this possible or am I looking at something else. Thanks. :)
Thank you. I have a buff orpington I ordered sexed from a hatchery. She is 11 weeks now and I swear it looks like saddle feathers in the back. I'm really unsure though.
To early to sex. If I were you I would Google it and go to images. That's how I always find out what they look like. Not sure on the sex link thing. So sorry about your flock. I would be inconsolable... :(
I always leave my nest boxes open. I can tell when they are ready to start laying because they go and start sitting in the box instead of just scratching the hay out lol. :)
