I never knew cattails were edible! There were some every year on the property I grew up on. I always collected some for my room and always had a huge mess when they'd end up bursting. Never stopped me though.
Thank you so much for your advice! I have raised beds but it's sorta generic garden soil from Lowe's in there, and it's not particularly fluffy. I'll do something different in another bed so Connor can try out his carrots.
You're not stepping on my toes... I like to learn!
ETA: this was...
The beds are all only 12 inches deep, but I'm aiming for smaller carrots. And really, no matter how deep or where they're planted I always have a tough time with carrots.
I have the greenhouse weighted down with some 5 pound weights from my husband's weight bench. We get very high winds here...
Here's my garden. I have eight 4x4 beds, for some reason one of the photos got lost in the ethernet. No photo of my rain gutter planter... you can't see anything good when I try to take the photo. Exactly half of the onions are coming up in it, the half that had old soil. The half with new soil...
I have red and yukon, but only the red is coming up. Last year I grew some type of russet, I used sprouted potatoes from a CSA box that I was gettting at the time. This year it's seed potatoes. I haven't done spectacular with potatoes before, but we did alright. Now I know not to water too much...
I'm here. Nothing new added, the red potatoes are coming up, exactly half of the onions I planted are coming up. Strawberry is flowering. The cabbages all look good. That's about it for here!
My compost pile is behind the garden fence. They can access it when I want them to, and are kept out the rest of the time. They make a huge mess but love it :) I can't let them in the garden much right now, too many young plants.
Thank you :) I have 8 4x4 raised beds. I plan on adding four more, and plan on putting up some gutters as planters. I need more room, my lot is the size of a postage stamp! As soon as I can find the charger for my camera, I'll take some photos!
